Seventh State

Yesterday was a big day on our journey – we crossed the Mississippi River, leaving Louisiana behind and entering Mississippi, our seventh state. We also passed the 4,000 mile mark.

Not the 7th but the 6th State - entering Louisiana

The last few days have been confusing weather-wise. On Thanksgiving we were complaining that it was too hot and humid. Then, riding south the next day we were wrapped up in all our layers with freezing rain bouncing off our helmets! (And woke the next morning to heavy frost).

However, things did warm up again – and we were blessed by a lovely tailwind (at last) as we rode south for Natchez and the Mississippi River.

  1. You may have already missed it but I would suggest a visit o Vicksburg.

    • I’m afraid we missed it – went too far south. But Natchez was really pretty and Hattiesburg is supposed to be nice.
