It’s so exciting……

CAROLYN SAYS: We’re having such an exciting time here in Texas. We went to our first homecoming college football game along with around 40,000 Americans – incredible razzmatazz (I can’t decide if I want to be a cheerleader or be in the mammoth brass band) and the football was good too. The Texas Tech “Red Raiders” were rubbish at first but made an amazing come-back to win and the home crowd was ecstatic – so were we!

Then last night we were walking through Post high street when I noticed the scrolling illuminated sign said: “Welcome to Post, Huw and Carolyn Thomas”. I watched it at least 5 times and videoed it.  We then had the best burgers in Holly’s diner along with the judge, his wife, the mayor, the editor and school chief of police – all of whom were carrying concealed handguns (apart from the editor who wielded her camera) and we got to write our names on the diner wall for posterity!

Not only that , but in a few days time I get to visit Southfork to cuddle a cardboard cut out of JR and I’m reliably informed by my sister than I can sit on his bed!

Finally, can anyone throw any light on the fact that during our visit this morning to Post Elementary School, when asked: “What  country do you think we are from?” the first boy to answer suggested: “Russia?”

  1. Carolyn, you are just too wonderful. I love looking at America, and especially Texas through your eyes. I am glad you are having such a marvelous time while you do the great ShelterBox work.

    ref.. (Russia)…

To any paranoid American kid raised on fierce Yankee propaganda… you are of course just two mysterious Russian spys cycling around America with false charitable credentials whilst videoing and photographing their military installations whilst on route…

ha ha . All the best Russell.
