It’s not all bad…

On Sunday we continued south to Whitefish – a long cold, wet ride of about 62 miles. We left in the rain and it didn’t stop… until we arrived.

Over the past couple of days though we’ve had a chance to relax in the luxurious surroundings of The Lodge at Whitefish Lake – the outdoor pool and hot tub was particularly welcome on that first day. Thanks so much, Scott, for arranging that!

Monday gave us a chance to catch up with emails and some forward planning for the next leg of the trip. Yesterday we had three ShelterBox engagements – a visit to the local High School first thing in the morning, a presentation to Whitefish Rotary Club at lunchtime and a display in the Farmers’ Market in the evening.

We also managed to fit in a visit to the Great Northern Brewery – but that was strictly for pleasure!

Testing the local waters

This morning, it’s wet and grey. We’re heading east on Highway 2 around Glacier National Park towards the Marias Pass. We’re told it’s a fairly gentle climb. Let’s hope so.

  1. Guys, great to see your progress- congrats for the massive effort so far! Enjoy the well-earned moments of luxury and pampering… only about 9,000 miles to go now, right!
We’re back at school teaching summer courses as of today – and there have been several Huw n Carolyn cycling conversations already! Except that is for Russell, who has got himself into the semi-finals of a doubles tennis tournament in Engalnd and so can’t possibly be back till after the final!!
    Keep it up!
    Cheers,
    Paddy

  2. Go Huw and Carolyn.

Must be downhill all the way to ‘downunder’?

    Take care!

    Gareth, Deborah and family

  3. Thanks Huw and Carolyn for a great program at the Rotary Club of Whitefish on August 31. It was a pleasure meeting you both at Rotary and then seeing you again at the Farmer’s Market. We all greatly admire what you’re doing.

    God speed and good luck,

    Ben & Whitefish Rotary
